All eyes on Aspen this week - the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship bringing that rare mix of proper sport and winter social-season theatre, right in the heart of town at Rio Grande Park.
From what we’ve been following, a few moments defined it: the surprise appearance from the Duke of Sussex on the Aspen Valley side, the St. Regis hospitality world orbiting the tournament, and the sheer cinematic quality of the imagery coming out of it.
Speaking of imagery - Tony Kelly’s work for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is exactly the kind of elevated partnership snow polo lends itself to, featuring Nacho Figueras (St. Regis’ “Global Connoisseur”) in the campaign work around the event.
And on the sport side: St. Regis shared that their team took the win this year.
A little history, because snow polo always deserves it: polo’s origins trace back to ancient Persia, and St. Moritz is widely credited with pioneering the modern snow polo era - hosting the world’s pre-eminent snow polo tournament since 1985 (with polo reaching St. Moritz as far back as the late 1800s).
